Scholarships offered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Government of India offers various scholarships to foreign students/ nationals under its Scholarship Programme for training/ study in different Indian Institutes/ Universities in India, including Indian Classical Music, Dance, Yoga, etc., but excluding Medical/ Paramedical (Nursing/ Physiotherapy/ Anaesthesia, etc.)/ fashion courses. For detailed information on the various Scholarship Schemes of the ICCR, interested candidates may please carefully go through the ICCR’s A2A (Admissions to Alumni) Scholarship Portal at www.a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in, particularly the headings:
(i) SCHEMES (ii) INSTRUCTIONS (iii) GUIDELINES, (iv) UNIVERSITIES LIST and (v) FAQs.
Candidates may also please note that some of the scholarships are country/ region-specific and therefore all the scholarships are not meant for students/ nationals of all the countries. Interested candidates from Romania (and not from Albania and Moldova) may note that they can also apply for Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP)/ Education Exchange Programme (EEP) Scholarship Scheme of the ICCR. The last date for applying online for the courses (UG/PG students) under CEP/EEP Scholarship Scheme of ICCR in the academic year 2022-2023 is 30 April, 2022. The prospective Romanian candidates under CEP/ EEP Scholarship Scheme may apply online on the ICCR’s A2A Portal at www.a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in by 30th April, 2022. The applicants should be in the age group of 18-30 years i.e. should be not less than 18 years and not more than 30 years of age. However, the upper age limit for Ph.D courses is relaxable between 30 to 45 years depending on institutions to institutions. Prospective Romanian candidates are advised to exercise due diligence and conduct due research on the admission and eligibility criteria laid down by various Institutes/ Universities in addition to the basic certificates mentioned in the application form. For this purpose, they may please refer to the concerned Institute's/ University's website given on ICCR's A2A Portal at www.a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in.
The prospective candidates may please note that the selected candidates for the courses (i) under the CEP/ EEP Scholarship Scheme of ICCR; and (ii) under the ICCR Scholarship Scheme for Indian Music and Dance, will have to bear their airfare to India and back on their own.
The prospective candidates are requested to inform this Embassy at hocoffice.bucharest@mea.gov.in immediately after they have successfully uploaded their applications on the ICCR’s A2A Portal.
For prospective Romanian candidates under CEP/ EEP Scholarship Scheme: The Embassy will conduct an English Test in the Embassy premises at BOULEVARD AVIATORILOR NO. 46, SECTOR-1, BUCHAREST on a suitable date in the first half of February 2020 for applicants for undergraduate/ postgraduate courses and in the first half of August 2020 for applicants for Ph.D. courses. The applicants will be informed of the date of the English Test through e-mail separately.
