Conversion of PIO Cards into OCI card
PIO Card
PIO card will be accepted as a valid travel document along with a valid foreign passport at all Indian Immigration Check Post(s) till 31st December 2025 for exit from / entry into India. This extension of the timeline is subject to the condition that if in the meantime any deadline is notified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) thereby making handwritten PIO cards invalid, then PIO cardholders may have to obtain appropriate visa from Indian Mission/Posts abroad.
All PIO Cardholders, residing in Moldova and Romania, are advised to convert their PIO Card into OCI Card before this deadline.

The following documents are required to be submitted to the Embassy on the appointed time:
- Printout of online application [click here to apply]
- Valid foreign passport,
- Existing PIO card, and
- Fee of (475 RON= service fee- 460 RON+ICWF-15 RON)
