Subject: Embassy Hosts India–Romania Hybrid B2B Event on Leather & Footwear
Embassy in collaboration with the Council for Leather Exports (CLE), India, successfully organized a Hybrid B2B interaction on Leather & Footwear on 27 March 2026 at the Embassy premises. The event brought together leading Indian exporters and prominent Romanian companies, providing a dynamic platform to explore trade and investment opportunities in the leather and footwear sector.
The event commenced with special remarks by the Ambassador of India to Romania, Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra. In his address, the Ambassador underscored the strength, quality, and global competitiveness of India’s leather and footwear industry, which has emerged as a key pillar of the country’s manufacturing and export landscape. He highlighted that India is among the world’s largest producers and exporters of leather and leather products, offering a wide spectrum ranging from raw materials to high-value finished goods. He emphasized that the sector is supported by a robust and integrated manufacturing ecosystem, a large pool of skilled artisans, modern design capabilities, and strict adherence to international quality, sustainability, and environmental standards.
The Ambassador further noted that Indian manufacturers are increasingly focusing on innovation, value addition, and customization to meet evolving global consumer preferences. He also drew attention to India’s competitive advantages, including cost efficiency, reliability, and the ability to cater to bulk as well as niche market demands. Highlighting the complementarities between India and Romania, he emphasized the significant untapped potential for enhancing bilateral trade, strengthening supply chains, and fostering long-term partnerships between Indian exporters and Romanian businesses. He expressed confidence that such B2B engagements would serve as a catalyst for deeper commercial linkages and mutually beneficial collaborations in the sector.
The session continued with remarks by Mr. Ramesh Juneja, Chairman, Council for Leather Exports, India, who provided an overview of India’s leather sector and its export capabilities. He also underlined the Council’s role in facilitating global market access and fostering international collaborations.
The highlight of the event was a series of presentations by leading Indian companies, including Superhouse Limited (Kanpur), Alpine Apparels Pvt. Ltd. (Faridabad), J.C. International Ltd. (Kolkata), Mirza International Ltd. (Kanpur), Bharat Enterprises (New Delhi), Apollo Fashion International (Noida), Dawar Footwear Industries (Agra), Alina Pvt. Ltd. (Chennai), and Creemos International (Kanpur). Each company showcased its product range, manufacturing strengths, and export expertise, offering Romanian partners insights into India’s diverse and high-quality offerings in leather goods and footwear.
The presentations were followed by an introduction of participating Romanian companies, enabling both sides to better understand potential areas of collaboration. An interactive Q&A session further facilitated direct engagement between Indian exporters and Romanian businesses, fostering meaningful business dialogue and networking.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the Embassy’s commitment to strengthening India–Romania economic relations and promoting mutually beneficial partnerships across key sectors. The Hybrid B2B interaction reflects the Embassy’s continued efforts to promote India’s export potential and deepen commercial ties with Romania, particularly in high-growth sectors such as leather and footwear.
