The Embassy of India, Bucharest, in collaboration with the Indian diaspora, celebrated Shivaji Jayanti and Maha Shivaratri with great enthusiasm and devotion at the Embassy premises. The occasion brought together a large number of community members and friends of India, reflecting the vibrant spirit and strong sense of unity that defines our diaspora in Romania.
The festivities commenced with a mass chanting of Vande Mataram, marking the 150th anniversary of this iconic national song penned by the legendary Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The collective rendition filled the Embassy with a deep sense of patriotism and cultural pride, setting a deeply moving tone for the celebrations that followed.
Shivaji Jayanti honours the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the great Maratha warrior king whose vision, courage, and administrative genius continue to inspire millions across India and the world. Maha Shivaratri, one of the most significant festivals in the Hindu calendar, is a night of devotion, introspection, and reverence dedicated to Lord Shiva. Celebrating both occasions together made for an evening that was at once culturally rich, spiritually resonant, and deeply communal.
The Embassy of India to Romania and Moldova remains committed to nurturing the cultural identity of the Indian diaspora and to bringing the community together in celebration of India's rich and diverse heritage.
