President Droupadi Murmu Addresses Indian Community and 'Friends of India' at Reception in Bucharest

On the concluding day of her State Visit to Romania (25 July), President Droupadi Murmu addressed members of the Indian Community and 'Friends of India' at a reception hosted by the Ambassador of India to Romania in Bucharest. The event was also attended by Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, and Members of Parliament Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Vijay Baghel.

Addressing the enthusiastic gathering of the Indian community living in Romania, the President said that even though they live far away from India, they remain deeply connected to their motherland, and that their achievements and love for India make every Indian proud. She noted with happiness that Indian companies and professionals are making significant contributions to Romania's development while creating new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

President Murmu said that the strongest pillar of India–Romania relations is the close bond between their peoples, noting that the Indian diaspora remains united in keeping India's rich cultural heritage alive in Romania, with a new generation of Indian IT engineers, scholars, researchers, healthcare professionals and students now making Romania their home. She said the contribution of the Indian community to Romania's economy and society, and their efforts to promote Indian culture and values, make them true representatives of India, and appreciated the Government and people of Romania for welcoming and ensuring the safety of the community.

Highlighting India's vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047' to build a prosperous, modern, self-reliant and inclusive India, President Murmu urged the Indian community in Romania to continue being active partners in India's developmental journey, underlining that their experience, expertise and achievements will contribute to the nation's progress.

The President also appreciated the Romanian 'Friends of India' present at the reception, saying that their love for Indian art and culture, along with their spiritual connections with India, form an important bridge bringing the two peoples together, and acknowledged their continued support in strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between India and Romania.
