Subject: India-Romania Business Connect: Embassy Hosts Hybrid B2B on Fashion & Textiles
The Embassy of India, Bucharest, organised an India-Romania Hybrid B2B Meeting on Fashion & Textiles on 24 August 2026, bringing together Indian textile and fashion companies and Romanian business representatives to explore opportunities for expanding bilateral trade, developing commercial partnerships and creating new business linkages in the sector.
The programme was organised in collaboration with local businessmen, with Indian companies participating virtually. The meeting provided a dedicated platform for Indian companies to present their products, manufacturing capabilities and areas of business interest directly to potential Romanian partners. GS Trading, Premier Textile, Aravali Silk Mills Pvt. Ltd., Sunny Enterprises and Amber Exports participated from India and made brief presentations highlighting their respective products and capabilities.
Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of India, delivered the opening remarks and highlighted the importance of strengthening India-Romania economic and commercial engagement through greater business-to-business interaction. He highlighted the considerable scope for cooperation in the fashion and textile sector, particularly by connecting capable Indian manufacturers and exporters with Romanian companies, buyers, distributors and other stakeholders. He emphasized that how such B2B platform, provides an opportunity to showcase the diversity and competitiveness of India's textile industry, ranging from silk and other textile products to finished garments and fashion-related products. He encouraged participating businesses to use the interaction to identify specific areas of cooperation and develop concrete commercial linkages.
The Indian delegation was led by Mr. Manpreet Singh, Chairman, ICIB, who also delivered opening remarks. The participating Indian companies subsequently made individual presentations, allowing Romanian counterparts to gain a better understanding of their product portfolios, capabilities and potential areas for collaboration. The format was designed to facilitate direct interaction and follow-up business discussions between interested companies.
The programme also featured special briefing by Mr. Bănică Ionel Cristian on the forthcoming Pasarela International Fashion Festival, scheduled to take place from 3–6 December 2026. The festival was highlighted as an additional platform for promoting interaction in the fashion and creative industries and for facilitating greater visibility and engagement between Indian and Romanian stakeholders.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session between Romanian and Indian companies, during which participants had the opportunity to discuss business interests and explore potential avenues for cooperation.
The Embassy has been actively facilitating sector-specific B2B engagements between Indian and Romanian businesses as part of its efforts to strengthen bilateral economic relations. The Embassy will continue to support such initiatives aimed at creating sustainable business partnerships and further expanding India-Romania trade and economic cooperation.
