India–Romania Hybrid B2B Session on Tourism & Hospitality Sector Held in Bucharest

The Embassy of India in Bucharest organised a highly engaging and successful India–Romania Hybrid B2B Session on the Tourism and Hospitality Sector on 28 November 2025. The event formed part of the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation, promote tourism linkages, and expand opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships. This initiative also reflected the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India’s forward-looking vision of the 4Ts: Trade, Tourism, Technology, and Talent, as essential pillars for fostering international collaboration and propelling India’s growth and global outreach.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of Romanian tourism and hospitality companies attending in physical mode, demonstrating the growing interest among Romanian stakeholders in exploring India’s vast potential as a destination for leisure, adventure, cultural immersion, wellness experiences, and medical value travel. Their engagement highlighted the increasing recognition of India as a dynamic and multifaceted market offering unparalleled diversity.

Ambassador Manoj Mohapatra delivered an insightful inaugural address that set the tone for the deliberations. He outlined the significant opportunities available for expanding India-Romania collaboration across the tourism value chain and highlighted India’s rich civilisational heritage, centuries-old traditions, natural beauty, and rapidly modernising tourism infrastructure. He emphasised that the Government of India has undertaken major reforms to enhance accessibility, improve service quality, and strengthen global outreach through digital platforms and targeted promotion.

Ambassador Mohapatra placed special emphasis on the relevance of the 4Ts in shaping the future trajectory of India’s international partnerships. On Trade, Ambassador mentioned that  increased tourist inflows, which contribute directly to sectors such as hospitality, aviation, handicrafts, and retail, would help increase the bilateral trade. He added that Tourism acts as a cultural bridge, deepening understanding between peoples and laying the foundation for stronger diplomatic and economic ties. Technology has emerged as a key enabler, from digital visa services to smart tourism solutions and virtual destination marketing. On Talent, Ambassador added that India’s world-renowned strength ensures excellence in hospitality, medical care, wellness services, craftsmanship, and creative industries, making the Indian tourism ecosystem globally competitive.

A key highlight of the session was the special focus on Goa, one of India’s most iconic and internationally acclaimed tourist states. Representatives of Goa Tourism, participating virtually, showcased the state’s stunning beaches, historic churches and temples, vibrant festivals, thriving nightlife, eco-tourism pathways, spice plantations, adventure sports, and diverse accommodation ecosystem ranging from boutique stays to luxury resorts. The presentation underscored why Goa remains a favourite for travellers seeking both relaxation and adventure.

The India Food Tourism Organisation (IFTO) joined the session online and introduced participants to India’s unparalleled culinary heritage. They highlighted the rising global interest in gastronomy tourism and showcased India’s potential to offer immersive food trails, regional cuisine experiences, spice tours, culinary workshops, and restaurant-based tourism circuits that appeal to international visitors seeking authentic cultural engagement.

On the healthcare front, Apollo Hospitals presented India’s fast-growing leadership in medical value travel, noting the country’s high-quality healthcare infrastructure, internationally certified medical professionals, advanced procedures, and cost-effective treatment packages. Their presentation demonstrated how medical tourism strengthens both Tourism and Trade, while showcasing India’s technological sophistication and medical Talent.

In addition, leading Indian tour and travel companies delivered comprehensive presentations on tailor-made travel packages curated for Romanian tourists. These included cultural circuits covering UNESCO World Heritage sites, spiritual and wellness retreats rooted in Ayurveda and yoga, nature and wildlife experiences, Himalayan adventure activities, and bespoke premium travel services. These curated offerings highlighted India’s expanding capacity to deliver enriching, safe, and diverse tourism experiences.

The B2B session created an impactful platform for Romanian and Indian stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue, explore avenues for collaboration, and discuss the development of joint marketing campaigns, co-branded tourism products, and new business models leveraging technology and experiential travel trends. The interaction strengthened awareness of India’s evolving tourism landscape and opened doors for greater commercial cooperation aligned with the 4Ts vision.

The Embassy of India, Bucharest appreciates the active participation of all organisations and remains committed to promoting collaboration and strengthening India-Romania ties in tourism, culture, and economic engagement.
