Subject: Embassy Hosts India–Romania Hybrid B2B Event on Textile and Apparel Cooperation
Embassy successfully organized an India–Romania Hybrid Business-to-Business (B2B) Meeting on Textile and Apparel Cooperation on 15 May 2026 bringing together Indian and Romanian stakeholders to explore opportunities for enhanced collaboration in the textile and apparel sectors.
The event witnessed participation from Indian and Romanian companies, industry representatives, and business stakeholders, reflecting the growing economic engagement between India and Romania. Several Indian companies joined the discussions virtually through Google Meet, enabling wider participation and interaction.
The programme commenced with special remarks by H.E. Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of India to Romania, who underscored the growing importance of India–Romania economic relations and the vast untapped potential for cooperation in the textile and apparel sector. He highlighted India’s emergence as a global leader in textiles, supported by a robust manufacturing ecosystem, skilled workforce, innovation, sustainability initiatives, and strong export capabilities. The Ambassador emphasized that enhanced engagement between Indian and Romanian businesses could create mutually beneficial opportunities through trade, investment, technology exchange, and supply chain partnerships. Referring to India’s focus on ‘Make in India’ and the promotion of sustainable and high-quality textile production, he encouraged Romanian companies to explore partnerships with Indian manufacturers and participate actively in India’s expanding textile ecosystem. He also noted that such business interactions serve as an important platform for strengthening bilateral economic ties and fostering long-term commercial cooperation between the two countries.
The session also featured opening remarks by Mr. Manpreet Singh, Chairman, ICIB, who highlighted the immense potential for expanding India–Romania business collaboration. Participants were further briefed on Bharat Tex 2026, India’s flagship global textile event scheduled for July 2026, by the Embassy.
Representatives of Indian textile companies delivered presentations showcasing their expertise, manufacturing capabilities, and export potential. Participating companies included Crazy Mod, BBK Textiles Mills, Trisa Exports, N.V. Woollen Mills, and T.T. Company among others.
The programme also included introductions of Romanian companies, followed by an interactive Question & Answer session between Indian and Romanian businesses. Discussions focused on identifying opportunities for trade, sourcing, investment, and long-term partnerships in the textile and apparel sectors.
The event reaffirmed the Embassy of India’s commitment to fostering stronger economic and commercial ties between India and Romania by facilitating dialogue between businesses and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation across key industries.
