Embassy successfully organized a Hybrid B2B Interaction on Tourism and Hospitality on 17 April 2026 aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting greater engagement between Indian and Romanian stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality sectors. The event brought together a wide spectrum of participants, including representatives of leading tourism companies, hospitality service providers, and business organizations from both India and Romania. Indian companies joined the event virtually, while Romanian participants attended in person, reflecting a dynamic hybrid format that enabled meaningful business interactions across borders.
The programme commenced with the arrival and welcome of guests, followed by special remarks by Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of India. In his address, the Ambassador highlighted the immense potential for expanding tourism exchanges between India and Romania, emphasizing India’s diverse tourism offerings, ranging from heritage and cultural tourism to wellness, eco-tourism, and adventure travel. He also underscored the importance of strengthening institutional linkages and business partnerships to unlock new opportunities in the sector.
The Indian side was represented by the Indian Chamber of International Business (ICIB), with opening remarks delivered by Mrs. Tinku Rajeev Gupta, Secretary General, ICIB. She emphasized the growing global interest in India as a tourism destination and reiterated the role of business-to-business platforms in facilitating partnerships and enhancing market access for tourism operators.
A key highlight of the event was the series of presentations made by participating Indian companies, each showcasing their specialized services and regional strengths. The participating entities represented a broad geographical spectrum of India, including Kolkata, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, West Bengal, Kalimpong, Pune, Kerala, Hyderabad, Delhi, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Their presentations covered a wide range of offerings such as corporate travel services, curated cultural experiences, heritage tourism, wildlife tourism, luxury travel, destination management services, and hospitality solutions.
The event also featured the introduction of Romanian companies active in the tourism and hospitality sector, providing them an opportunity to present their profiles and explore collaboration with Indian counterparts.
An interactive Q&A session followed, facilitating direct dialogue between Indian and Romanian participants. The discussions were constructive and forward-looking, focusing on developing joint tourism products, increasing tourist flows, leveraging digital platforms, and fostering long-term partnerships. Particular interest was noted in areas such as spiritual and wellness tourism, niche experiential travel, and customized tour packages. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to all participants for their active engagement and reaffirming the shared commitment to enhancing India–Romania cooperation in tourism and hospitality.
