12th International Day of Yoga 2026 Celebrated at Piata Constitutiei, Bucharest

The Embassy of India, Bucharest, celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 on 21 June 2026 at Piața Constituției (Constitution Square), Bucharest, in front of the Palace of Parliament. The event was organized under the global theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing" with the support of the Ministry of Ayush and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
The celebration brought together yoga practitioners, members of the Indian community, Romanian friends of India, students, and wellness enthusiasts from various backgrounds. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra addressed the gathering, highlighting yoga as a holistic way of life that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries.
The Common Yoga Protocol session was conducted by Ms. Veronica Mathew, Yoga Teacher engaged by the Embassy with ICCR support. Major yoga organizations including Brahma Kumaris, Isha Foundation, and Sahaj Yoga participated actively, with Sahaj Yoga presenting a special stage demonstration.
As part of IDY 2026 preparations, the Embassy had organized a Curtain Raiser event on 31 March 2026 and conducted over thirty yoga sessions and outreach programmes across Romanian institutions, universities, schools, and corporate establishments.
The Embassy expressed its appreciation to the Mayor's Office and City Hall of Bucharest for providing the venue, and to the Romanian Police and Jandarmeria for their support in ensuring the smooth conduct of the event.
