71st Republic Day

The 71^st Republic Day of India was celebrated by the Embassy of India, Bucharest (Romania) through two events organized i.e. Flag hoisting in the morning of 26^th January 2020 and a Reception on the evening of 27^th January, 2020.

On 26^th January 2020, the tricolor was unfurled by the Ambassador, Shri Thanglura Darlong at 1000 hrs. at the Embassy premises in the presence of around 150 guests representing the Indian community and the Friends of India. This was followed by a cultural programme and light refreshment.

On 27^th January 2020, the evening programme was held at InterContinental Bucharest Hotel, from 1830 to 2030 hrs. Around 325 guests, comprising the members of Romanian Parliament and European Parliament, diplomatic community, high ranking Romanian Government officials, representatives of the academic, Indian business community and friends of India attended the event. The Chief guest was Mr. Cornel Feruta, State Secretary for Global Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Romania. The guests were entertained by the Indian classical dances performed by local dance group. The hotel prepared and laid out a sumptuous and delicious Indian cuisine, admired by one and all.
