Commemorating 150 Years of Vande Mataram
Embassy of India, Bucharest, organized special events on 6th and 7th November 2025 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, India’s National Song an eternal ode to the spirit of patriotism, unity, and devotion to the motherland.
During his official visit to Romania, Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Shri Jitin Prasada, joined members of the Indian community and friends of India in singing Vande Mataram on 6th November 2025. The gathering of more than 150 people resonated with emotion and pride as participants collectively celebrated the powerful message of national unity embodied in the immortal verses penned by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875.
Continuing the celebrations, the Embassy organized a Mass Singing of Vande Mataram on 7th November 2025. The event brought more than 50 ITEC alumni, friends of India and cultural enthusiasts to pay tribute to the National Song that has inspired generations of Indians in their quest for freedom and national resurgence. In his remarks, Ambassador Mohapatra highlighted the timeless relevance of Vande Mataram as a unifying force that continues to evoke pride in India’s cultural and spiritual heritage. He emphasized that the song’s message of devotion to the motherland transcends borders and continues to inspire all who cherish freedom, dignity, and unity.
The celebrations reaffirmed the enduring emotional bond shared by Indians across the globe with their cultural roots and reflected the shared values of friendship and solidarity between India and Romania.
