Ambassador Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra Engages with Indian Business Community in Cluj-Napoca

During his visit to Cluj-Napoca, Ambassador of India to Romania, H.E. Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, held an interactive meeting on 22 November 2025 with representatives of the Indian business community based in the city and surrounding region. The engagement, organised with the support of local Indian entrepreneurs and professionals, provided a valuable platform to discuss opportunities, challenges, and avenues for enhancing India–Romania commercial ties.

Ambassador Mohapatra appreciated the growing presence of Indian companies and professionals in Cluj-Napoca, one of Romania’s leading centres for IT, innovation, engineering, and higher education. He commended their contribution to strengthening bilateral economic relations, generating employment, and building bridges between the two countries. He mentioned about the export of products from Indian SMEs and MSMEs to Romania, which is a growing area of cooperation, supported by longstanding institutional ties. India and Romania have established multiple agreements and joint working groups to facilitate collaboration, business matching, and trade delegations between SMEs of both countries. This enables sharing of best practices, credit system knowledge, and technology transfer. Indian SMEs exporting to Romania benefit from engagement in sectors including manufacturing and technology, with efforts focused on enhancing market access, joint ventures, and investment opportunities. This collaboration underscores the commitment to promote SME-driven exports as a vital component of bilateral economic growth and diversification

During the interaction, participants shared insights on a range of issues including business registration and compliance, access to local markets, talent mobility, taxation, banking support, and sector-specific regulatory frameworks. The community also highlighted emerging opportunities in IT services, manufacturing support, start-up collaboration, education partnerships, and skilled workforce exchange.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on further strengthening the India–Romania economic partnership through regular dialogue, coordinated outreach, and enhanced cooperation in technology, innovation, and investment.
