Subject: Ambassador’s Visit to Chișinău Strengthens IndiaMoldova Bilateral Engagement Across Key Sectors

During an official visit to Chișinău, the Ambassador of India held a series of high-level meetings with senior Moldovan dignitaries, government officials, and members of the diplomatic community, aimed at further strengthening India–Moldova bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across political, economic, energy, and institutional domains.

The Ambassador called on H.E. Mr. Igor Grosu, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, and held comprehensive discussions on enhancing parliamentary exchanges, strengthening democratic engagement, and promoting closer legislative cooperation between the two countries. The interaction underscored the importance of sustained dialogue between parliamentary institutions in fostering mutual understanding and advancing bilateral ties.

In a separate meeting, the Ambassador met with Mr. Igor Dodon, President of the Moldova–India Parliamentary Friendship Group. Discussions focused on strengthening inter-parliamentary engagement, facilitating exchanges between lawmakers, and promoting greater awareness of India–Moldova relations within legislative frameworks.

The Ambassador held detailed discussions with Mr. Ion Lupan, Head of the Economic Council, focusing on expanding trade cooperation, encouraging bilateral investments, and identifying new sectors for economic collaboration. Emphasis was placed on strengthening institutional mechanisms that support business engagement and economic partnerships.

A meeting with Mr. Vladimir Munteanu, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Economic Affairs, provided an opportunity to exchange views on macroeconomic trends, investment facilitation, and avenues for enhancing commercial linkages between India and Moldova. Both sides highlighted the importance of fostering a conducive environment for business and innovation.

The Ambassador also met with the Chief of Staff to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, where discussions focused on strengthening institutional coordination and advancing key areas of bilateral cooperation through enhanced policy dialogue and administrative engagement.

In a meeting with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, discussions centered on labour mobility, skills development, and opportunities for collaboration in workforce training and social sector initiatives. Both sides acknowledged the importance of facilitating safe and mutually beneficial labour exchanges.

At the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), the Ambassador engaged in discussions on energy sector cooperation, including regulatory practices, energy market development, and opportunities in renewable and sustainable energy solutions. The meeting highlighted the growing importance of energy security and diversification.

As part of diplomatic outreach, the Ambassador met with H.E. Ms. Dominique Waag, Ambassador of France, and exchanged views on regional developments, multilateral cooperation, and areas of shared interest. The interaction reflected the importance of continued dialogue among diplomatic partners in addressing common global challenges.

On Tuesday, 17 March 2026, the Ambassador held a meeting with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on strengthening bilateral diplomatic engagement, enhancing coordination in multilateral fora, and exploring new avenues for cooperation in foreign policy and regional issues.

The Ambassador also met with Ms. Carolina Novac, State Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, to discuss collaboration in the energy sector, particularly in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable development. Both sides explored opportunities for technical cooperation and knowledge exchange.

During a meeting with H.E. Mr. Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure, discussions focused on infrastructure development, connectivity, and potential partnerships in transport, logistics, and urban development projects. The engagement highlighted the importance of infrastructure as a driver of economic growth and regional integration.

The Ambassador held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Nikolaos Krikos, Ambassador of Greece, to exchange perspectives on regional developments and explore avenues for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including economic and cultural engagement.

In a similar vein, the Ambassador met with H.E. Mr. Cristian-Leon Țurcanu, Ambassador of Romania, where discussions focused on regional cooperation, trilateral engagement opportunities, and strengthening diplomatic coordination in the region.

The Ambassador also met with Ms. Olga Roșca, Presidential Adviser, to discuss strategic priorities, institutional collaboration, and avenues for enhancing high-level engagement between India and Moldova.

A meeting with Mr. Ion Ceban, Mayor of Chișinău, focused on strengthening cooperation at the city level, including opportunities in urban development, smart city initiatives, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people engagement. The discussion highlighted the growing importance of local-level partnerships in advancing bilateral relations.

The visit underscored India’s strong commitment to deepening its partnership with the Republic of Moldova through sustained high-level engagement, expanded economic cooperation, and strengthened institutional linkages. The wide-ranging discussions reflected a shared vision to further advance bilateral relations and explore new opportunities for collaboration across diverse sectors.
