The India-Moldova Business and Cultural Organisation (IMBCO), in coordination with the Embassy of India, Bucharest, successfully organised the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 at Dendrariu Park, Chișinău, as part of a broader programme of Indian cultural outreach activities in Moldova.
The event featured a rich array of offerings, including Yoga sessions, Ayurveda awareness, Mehendi art, and Indian cultural performances and dance, showcasing the depth of India's cultural heritage and its holistic traditions of wellness and well-being.
The programme was graced by H.E. Mr. Ion Ceban, Mayor of Chișinău, as Chief Guest, while H.E. Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of India to Romania and Moldova, formally inaugurated the celebrations, underscoring the importance of this annual global observance.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Indian community, Moldovan friends of India, and a growing community of yoga practitioners and wellness enthusiasts in Chișinău — a turnout that further strengthened the cultural and people-to-people ties between India and Moldova.
International Day of Yoga, observed annually on 21 June, celebrates the ancient Indian practice of Yoga as a gift to the world — a discipline that promotes physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, transcending borders and uniting people across cultures.
